NORTH CAROLINA NO PATIENT LEFT ALONE ACT, OCTOBER 2021

North Carolina’s version of the No Patient Left Alone Act is no better than any other state.  It allows too many incursions into the patient/family dynamic to actually be considered a “No Patient Left Alone” act.  We feel that if the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services can supersede patient emotional and medical well-being than there are no protections for these patients. After the experiences of patients in every health system and state during the Covid-19 pandemic being neglected, abused, bullied and gaslit ending in dying alone, without the support of family or an unbiased advocate, we will have to lobby for changes to be made to this law.  Despite the fact that it was just passed in October 2021.  The details are here:  Senate Bill 191 / SL 2021-171 (2021-2022 Session) – North Carolina General Assembly (ncleg.gov)
